Built by people who have worked in research, for the people who still do.

Formulaic is built by researchers, for researchers. We got tired of spending hours reformatting manuscripts every time a journal rejected our work — so we built the tool we always wished existed.

Built for teams across

Leadership team

We're scientists and engineers who've lived the frustration of academic publishing firsthand. Every feature in Formulaic exists because someone on this team needed it and couldn't find it anywhere else.

Karen Dindial, CEO
Karen Dindial, CEO

Karen Dindial has spent over two decades at the intersection of healthcare, technology, and strategy, working within the systems that shape how science is produced, evaluated, and brought to market.

Before founding Formulaic, she held roles at IQVIA, Medidata, and the CDC’s National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, contributing to peer reviewed research and gaining firsthand insight into the realities of scientific publishing, where she observed a consistent pattern: important work slowed not by science, but by the systems surrounding it.

She later founded DKI Health, a strategic life sciences consultancy, building the domain and operational expertise to navigate complex healthcare ecosystems.

At Formulaic, Karen is focused on building the infrastructure layer for scientific publishing, rethinking how requirements are structured and integrated into the research workflow.

Ankur Patel, CTO
Ankur Patel, CTO

Ankur Patel has spent two decades building high-performance web and mobile applications for global businesses, with a specialty in the kind of back-end architecture that makes a platform work fast, stay reliable, and evolve quickly.

His technical credentials are extensive: Ankur holds three AWS certifications and six Sisense certifications, is a certified Solutions Architect, and is an active AWS Community Builder, including participation in Amazon's developer conferences. He works across the full stack, with deep experience in DevOps and machine learning infrastructure.

At Formulaic, he leads the technical vision from concept through deployment, with responsibility for the systems that make real-time compliance checking, citation management, and journal reformatting possible at scale.

Tyler Rhode, VP Product & Strategy
Tyler Rhode, VP Product & Strategy

Tyler Rhode has spent his career at the intersection of life sciences and product strategy, with prior roles at Flatiron Health and QuintilesIMS and a researcher's perspective earned from publishing in peer-reviewed medical journals.

A Classics graduate of Columbia University and a six-time Jeopardy champion, he brings an instinct for precision and pattern recognition that shapes how Formulaic thinks about its product.

Before joining Formulaic, he developed deep expertise in how research moves through the healthcare system and where the process breaks down.

At Formulaic, he leads product vision and strategy, with a focus on translating the needs of working scientists into tools that fit their actual workflows.

Our Vision for Formulaic

A world where the only thing standing between a breakthrough and its impact is the quality of the idea, and the facts that support it. The rest is noise. Formulaic removes it.

Scientific publishing runs on complex, ever-changing requirements that live in static documents, scattered website pages, and manual interpretation creating friction at every stage of the process. Time lost to navigating thousands of inconsistent standards across journals has nothing to do with the quality of the research. Formulaic is building the infrastructure layer that changes that. Scientific publishing is where we start.

For Investors

The timing is right. The gap is obvious.

Researcher frustration with publishing is widespread, but the tools supporting manuscript preparation have not kept pace. Formulaic is building the infrastructure layer academic publishing has needed for years: an integrated platform for manuscript formatting, journal compliance, and submission readiness. We are currently raising our seed round as we approach launch.

$28B market

Scientific publishing remains one of the largest and most profitable segments in research infrastructure.

40+ hours lost per submission

Researchers routinely spend significant time on formatting and reformatting work that does not advance the science.

3M+ annual submissions

Millions of researchers submit manuscripts each year, with junior scientists and underrepresented groups carrying a disproportionate share of the administrative burden.

Multiple revenue streams

Individual subscriptions alongside institutional partnerships with universities, publishers, and professional societies.

Strong early validation

Prototype testing indicates high willingness to adopt, with pricing exceeding initial expectations.

Product launch this year

Sales-ready platform aligned with upcoming release milestones.
